Can you tell us a little about yourself and your role at Olivelli’s?
Of course! My name is Giovanni Salomone, and I am the founder of Olivelli’s.
Where does the name Olivelli’s come from?
The name actually comes from the surname of the family who originally started the restaurant. It has been passed down through generations, and we’ve kept the name as a way of honouring that legacy.
The restaurant first opened its doors in 1934, and since then, it has remained a cornerstone of the community. It’s known for its warm atmosphere, rich flavours, and commitment to quality.
What are some of the signature dishes at Olivelli’s?
One of our most iconic dishes is Tortelloni Paradiso. It has been on our menu since the very first day we opened, and it continues to be a favourite among our guests. Every morning, we prepare the tortelloni by hand, filling them generously with creamy ricotta cheese. The dish is then served in a luscious sauce made with saffron, cream, and mushrooms.
What makes Olivelli’s unique compared to other restaurants in London?
I always say Olivelli’s is more than just a restaurant - it’s an experience. It feels like stepping into one of the gorgeous hamlets of London, where tradition and come together. There’s always something happening, whether it’s the energy of our guests, the passion of our chefs, or the lively conversations that fill the air.
What do you love most about St Christopher’s Place?
For me, St Christopher’s Place is such a fascinating spot. I say it It’s one of those special places in London where there’s always something interesting happening. It has such a lively, welcoming vibe—definitely one of my favourite spots.
